Founded in 2016 by the duo of architects Ana P Ferreira and Pedro M Ribeiro, united by their common practice of architecture and the arts. It is from the island of Madeira that they seek inspiration from the past to draw the future.
In an intense exploration of opening pathways where ideas are drawn and constructed, they manifest themselves through collages, models of different scales and materials, abstract or non-abstract drawings. A contemporary diaspora that is based on close human relationships and a quest for the construction of ideas on various scales. This is further amplified through academic pursuits, research, conferences, competitions, exhibitions, and scenography.
pontoatelier was invited to exhibit at the Center for Architecture in New York, "Generation Próxima" curated by Pedro Gadanho, 2023-2024.
They are one of the invited studios to be part of the Portuguese representation at the Venice Architecture Biennale '23.
They recently won the international public competition CORSO LIBERTÁ for Merano in partnership with CLAB architecttura.
They also received the FAD'2021 award in the category of ephemeral installations for the pavilion INBETWEEN, Azores.
They were also featured in the exhibition "THE YOUNG NEW" at Garagem Sul, CCB, Lisbon, 2022.
They were one of the five architecture studios invited to participate in the national curatorial competition for the Portuguese representation at the Biennale di Venezia 2020.
Between 2014 and 2021, they were invited professors at the University of Évora and ISCTE, as well as in workshops such as W.A.V.E at IUAV in Venice, and the Summer School Moytirra in Ponta Delgada, Azores.
